(aka M. E., Union & Warriors Mark)
The Soldier's Monument is on the left of
one of the entrances to Burket cemetery in Warriors Mark, Huntingdon Co.,
PA. The four faces of the base has the names of several local men who served
in the military. To the right of Lincoln's face are three names significant
to us: JACOB GANOE, ISAAC GANOE & GIDEON GANOE
Several Ganoe - Addleman descendants have made the genealogical trip to Warriors Mark, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. The town is located in a quiet farming community valley. The center of town has remained small for a number of years with the basic post office, general store and a volunteer fire department. Of course, a few other commercial establishments have sprung up but the town has basically remained small.
William Batton Addleman's house can still be seen and in 1990 was being renovated. I believe it was originally the home of John M. Addleman and his wife, Sarah Ganoe. Burket cemetery is located on one of the nearby hills. From the top of the cemetery, one can see a panoramic view of the valley. A list was compiled below consisting of the Addlemans, Ganoes and their families. The 'Addleman/Ganoe row' (behind the memorial) in the older section is by physical location (right-to-left, from the center towards the memorial). It is believed that some historic significance may be derived by recording the graves positionally, rather than alphabetizing them.
